Two years ago, I was dead broke. When I mean broke, I met broke. I had only about $50 dollars in my bank account. I was down to my last dollar. Rent was due and I needed to make about $500 for my portion of the rent, since I was sharing a house with two order people.

Brain Storming

I had to come up with a quick legal way to get some money, fast. I had about 20 days to make that money. I locked myself in my room for three days and started brainstorming.

As I was brainstorming, a lot of ideas were running through my head. I narrowed it all down to the best five (5) fast money-making strategies.

Five Money Strategies

1. Craigslist Flipping

This strategy was a pretty fast way for me to make about $150 dollars right away. I went to craigslist under the for-sale section and click the free link.

I browsed through all the freebies that people were trying to get rid of. I came across a nice sofa and love seat combo that was in perfect condition. It just so happened that the couple were moving and needed to get rid of the furniture quickly. All I had to do was to get my friend to give me a ride, pick it up and bring it to our house for temporary storage.

The next step was to get back on Craigslist and browse through the wanted section of the site. Once again, I found someone who was looking for a sofa. I sent them an email, with some pictures of the sofa and snuck in the pictures of the love seat too. Once they saw the combo, they were hooked. I told them it would cost $200 for both but after some price negotiations, we settled on $150.

They picked up both items the next day. Not bad for a day work. I was hooked.

2. Flea Market/Thrift Store Flipping

I decided to try another trick in conjunction with the Craigslist flipping. I decided to visit my local Thrifty stores. I went to around three different Thrift stores around my area. They did not have much stuff in my area, so I headed out to the next county where they had a nicer Thrift store. This thrift store was located in a very upscaled neighborhood.

This thrift store was like shopping in Marshals or TJ Max. I found a lot of different things. I found nice working Dell Latitude laptop for only $20 dollars. The laptop was about 2 years old and in great condition.

I went back home, used the same computer to browse Craigslist again. I navigated to the wanted section and found someone looking for a computer. We settled on $125, a profit of $105 dollars.

3. Housework

As I was sitting around the house thinking of my next venture, I noticed that the house was dirty looking. It was our responsibility to keep the property clean. Also, the yard needed to be cut.

So, I decided to charge each of my roommates $25 each to clean the house and mown the lawn. I tacked on an additional $10 each (2 people) to clean up their dirty rooms.

A grand total of $70 dollars for two hours and half hours of work. Not bad.

4. Flipping Fiverr

I started to watch some YouTube about making money online easier. So I decided to try it out, to see if it really works. Because, as we all know, some of those videos are bogus. They just do not work.

I decided to try a method while I was one of the videos. I decided to do some Fiver Flipping. I went on Fiverr, searched for tee-shirt designers and I found tons of them. I narrowed it down to one guy who would air brush your name on a tee-shirt and send it to you, for only $5 dollars. I had to make sure it was only $5, so I contact the guy and he did confirm the price. All he needed was the name and tee-shirt size.

I went on eBay, posted all the information from the guy profile, changed some little things to fit was I wanted to accomplish and charge $45 for the services.

I received nothing on for the first two days but on the third day, I received about four orders. I could not believe this was working. That’s $180 — $20 (for the Fiverr guy) = $160 in 3 days.

This was too easy. Way too easy.

5. Be A Care Giver

I registered on care.com. The process was very easy to do. They had lots of jobs where people need help with thing around the house, care givers and other easy to do jobs. Some go for around, $12 per hour and up. The most was $25 per hour to be companion for an elderly gentleman.

I applied for the $25 per hour position. The following day, I was hired. I stayed with the gentle man for about 2 hours a day for four days a week. For the week, I made $200 dollars.

The gentle man became my very good friend. I learned a lot form him. I believe it was the best job I ever had. We still keep in touch and see each other at least twice a month.

Money Is Everywhere

From this experience, I realized there is money everywhere. I just had to look, be creative and work smart to earn the amount of money I want. I am still doing these things every week but not as intensive. I am making a lot of money, enough to take care of my bills, invest and save. I have placed these strategies on auto pilot, especially the first four items on the list and they run itself. I must say, I was very lucky to find people quickly during my time of need.

Look around, you will see money in everything. It comes more when you are helping people. I realized it is not about the money anymore, it is about helping people. In turn, the money just keeps pouring in like rain.
